Founding Date

Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity was officially founded on April 5th, 1979, at Rutgers University - New Brunswick, Livingston Campus.


Motto

“Latinos Siempre Unidos” embodies the enduring unity and strength of the fraternity’s brotherhood.


Nicknames

LSU, Upsilons, and Upsilon Men reflect the fraternity’s unique identity and pride.


Colors

Baby Blue and White symbolize the fraternity’s values of unity, clarity, and purpose.


Fraternal Hand Sign

The Fraternal Hand Sign represents the unity and brotherhood of Lambda Sigma Upsilon, connecting members across generations.


Cultural Symbol

The Taino Head, representing the “Taino Indian,” is the cultural symbol of Lambda Sigma Upsilon, honoring the fraternity’s indigenous roots and heritage.


Philanthropy

Lambda Sigma Upsilon supports HIV/AIDS research and awareness through various initiatives and partnerships that raise funds and spread knowledge about the cause.


Stepping & Strolling

Lambda Sigma Upsilon became the first Latino fraternity to adopt and embrace the cultural art forms of stepping and strolling, adding their own unique style and flair to these traditions.


The Upsilon Family

In 1981, Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. was founded and birthed the Upsilon Family.

Bound by our history and tradition, LSU is the first Latino Fraternity to be affiliated with a sister sorority.
