Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc. response to immigration ban

Elizabeth, N.J.- Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Incorporated was formed by a group of minority men, who sought to overcome the barriers immigrants faced in this country. Our brotherhood is based on unity, not on differences. Therefore, LSU does not stand in support of the president’s immigration ban. This executive order is a direct attack on our fraternity’s core value of cultural awareness. LSU believes that diversity makes us a better fraternity and country. It’s our diversity that strengthens and supports our foundation. Valuing diversity has helped us succeed by enabling us to learn and embrace different cultures.

We are a country of immigrants who have fought hard for human rights, social justice, and equality. “ I am an immigrant myself, like many of the members of Lambda Sigma Upsilon. We cannot, and we will not be silent when our core values and beliefs are challenged. It is important that in times like this we stay united and offer our help to our brothers and sisters from the 7 countries affected by the ban. Divided we fall,” says National President Joseph Gonzales.

LSU is asking organizations to join us in our “ We are America – Unity Rally” on February 9th taking place nationwide at individual campuses at 6 p.m. This rally is an opportunity to join us as active leaders in the fight against the ban and any actions that can be interpreted as discrimination based on country of origin, religion, creed, gender, race, and/or sexuality.
